On 21 November 2025, Sparrow Society took a stand with Women for Change — gearing up for the 16 Days of Activism by joining a nationwide sit-down silent protest.

This was more than a moment of silence.
It was a call to action.
A refusal to accept a reality where a woman in South Africa is buried every 2.5 hours.

On this day, women and members of the LGBTQI+ community across the country committed to:
❌ Withholding all paid and unpaid labour
❌ Withdrawing from the economy for the entire day
❌ Standing still — or lying down — for 15 minutes at 12pm to honour the 15 women murdered every single day

We joined this shutdown to make one message impossible to ignore:
Gender-Based Violence and Femicide must be declared a National Disaster. Not later. Not at another summit. NOW.

Wearing black, holding silence, and standing in solidarity, we added our voices to thousands across the nation who refuse to let this crisis go unseen.

One day. One message.
Without women, South Africa stops.
