The manufacture of the Elizabeth Arden bags by the SewBoss network of Sparrow Society allowed for the creation of over 100 home-based sewing jobs across Cape Town and surrounds. This was a game-changer in the industry that not only kept seamstresses safe from possible exposure on public transport and the normal factory environment, but also allowed them the flexibility in their workday to take care of children now studying from home, and other family members. This opportunity allowed for growth and prosperity for this network of seamstresses in a time where many were, and still are, suffering unimaginable losses.”
